Canadian farmers and _ fishermen,
aided by science in the development
of this country’s vast natural wealth,
are making a major contribution to
the settlement of the world food
problem.
Agriculture is Canada’s biggest in-
dustry. Canadian fisheries are perhaps
the richest in the world. These two
food producing industries together
provide employment for more than
one-third of the working population.
With a small population for her size
and wealth, Canada is able to export
to a hungry world great quantities
of wheat, flour and fish. Indeed these
three products rank with newsprint,
timber and wood-pulp as the first
items on Canada’s export roster.
