Andy Clarke is a favorite with radio listeners
in Canada for his weekly ‘Neighborly News”
report on “homey” happenings, culled from
weekly newspapers in Ontario and Quebec.
The CBC International Service broadcasts his
report every Monday.
Program Notes
Ehe CBC International Service broadcasts
two English-language transmissions daily for
listeners in the United Kingdom. A descrip-
tion of these transmissions for the months of
June and July appears below.
Detailed information, including times and
frequencies for the various programs, will be
found on the CBC European Service program
chart inserted in this issue.
THE NEWS is heard daily in each of
the two transmissions.
CANADA AT THE UNITED NATIONS
(Sundays). A weekly review of
United Nations developments.
CANADIAN COMMENTARY (Wednes-
days). A discussion of current events
in Canada and their bearing on world
affairs.
Actualities
CANADIAN CHRONICLE (Monday to
Friday). A twice-daily presentation
of topical reports from all parts of
Canada.

CANADIANS AT WORK (Sundays and
Fridays). On-the-job interviews with
Canadian industrial workers.
SPORTSWEEK (Mondays). Eve-wit-
ness commentaries on outstanding
sports events in Canada.
Magazine Programs
HOLIDAYS AT HOME (Mondays and
Fridays). Reports from mountain and
lake resorts where Canadians are
enjoving their holidays.
THE LIVELY ARTS (Saturdays and
Sundays). Discussions on painting,
sculpture, writing and other arts and
crafts in Canada.
Burton S. Keirstead, of McGill University’s
economics and political science department,
reports frequently on Canadian and world
affairs in the English-language transmissions
of the CBC International Service.
SPORTS REPORT (Saturdays). A Cana-
dian sports review.
WOMEN IN THE NEw WORLD (Sundays
and Thursdays). Canadian women
and newcomers from the United
Kingdom tell about life in Canada.
Talks and Stories
SPEAKER OF THE WEEK (Thursdays).
An outstanding Canadian discusses
his work, his philosophy and his
favorite topic.
I COVER THE WATERFRONT (Mondays
and Tuesdays in June). Yarns of
