Program Notes

The CBC International Service has
two daily transmissions for listeners
in the United Kingdom. ‘Times and
frequencies are listed on the program
chart enclosed in the centre of this
booklet.

News on international and Cana-
dian developments is broadcast three
times daily.

MIDWEEK COMMENTARY (Wednes-
days). Special topics are discussed
each week by informed experts.

WEEKEND COMMENTARY (Saturdays).
Burton S. Keirstead of Montreal,
and Robert McKeown of Ottawa,
well-known Canadian commentators,
alternate in reviewing the week’s
news.

Actualities and Interviews

CANADIAN CHRONICLE (Monday to
Friday). Details behind the day’s
Canadian headlines are reported by
CBC commentators across Canada
twice daily.

CANADIANS AT WORK (Fridays). A
series of documentary programs illus-
trating Canadian employment and
production methods.

Mr. Ira Dilworth, General Supervisor of the
CBC International Service, is active in the
fields of music, art and letters. A well-known
educator in western Canada, Mr. Dilworth
was for mine years CBC Regional Repre-
sentative in Vancouver prior to his present
appointment a year and a half ago. He 1s the
leading interpreter of the works of the late
Canadian artist, Emily Carr, and also the
author of several anthologies of English verse.

Burton S. Keirstead, of McGill University’s

economics and political science department

reports frequently on Canadian and world

affairs in the English-language transmissions
of the CBC International Service.

SPORTS REPORT (Saturdays). Eye-
witness reports on National Hockey
League games played in Montreal.

Sports WEEK (Mondays). A review
of the various winter sports activities
in all parts of Canada.

Cross SECTION (Mondays). Gordon
Burwash begins a series of interviews
with new Canadians. March 7, Jack
Krefting (Norway); March 14, Zbi-
gniew Domaniewski (Poland); March
21, Velli Schoen (Estonia); March 28,
Natasha Pietrowska (Russia).
