Program Notes
Three English language transmissions
are daily directed to listeners in the
United Kingdom and Europe. The
times and frequencies of the programs
are listed on pages 10 and 11 of this
booklet.
Daily
News. Canadian and international
news is broadcast three times daily.
Postnews Commentaries (Monday
to Friday). A four-minute commen-
tary follows the news to Europe at
2200 GMT. In addition, a news
analysis is heard immediately follow-
ing the news to Britain at 1700 GMT.
These commentaries are especially
designed to give the best coverage of
world events of special interest to
listeners in the United Kingdom.
On Mondays the speaker is Ann
Francis of Ottawa. Tuesdays, J. B.
McGeachy of "Toronto Globe and
Mail”. Wednesdays and Fridays, a
special report from United Nations
in New York. Thursdays, Robert
McKeown, Ottawa correspondent to
“The Montreal Standard”.
Canadian Chronicle (Monday to
Saturday). CBC reporters across
Canada present details of events in
the day’s news headlines.
Sundays
Listeners’ Corner. Answers to ques-
tions received from overseas listeners
are given on this program together
with a preview of program highlights.
Family Tree. A series of document-
ary accounts of the histories of Cana-
dian families. A member of the family
described tells the story which is
illustrated with dramatized episodes
from the past. November 5, Mrs.
James Marshall of Vancouver, Eng-
lish Canadian; November 12, Nick
Balla of Ottawa, Hungarian Cana-

Lister Sinclair, Toronto dramatist, actor and
critic, 1s a frequent contributor to the Sunday
program BOOKS AND SHOWS.

Let’s Look at Science. Significant
developments in science in Canada
described in short talks following the
news at 2210 GMT.
This Week. Topical talks, discus-
sions, and reports on current events.
Books and Shows. Previously called
“The Arts”, this program now con-
centrates on reviews of current thea-
trical productions, radio shows, books
or movies. Three speakers are heard
in each program. They include Arthur
Phelps, Graham McInnes, Chester
Duncan, Nathan Cohen, Clyde Gil-
more, and other Canadian broad-
casters.
Mondays
Canadians At Work. A series of
weekly dramatized documentaries
presented to give listeners an authentic
impression of various industries,
trades, and professions in Canada.
Tuesdays
Canadiana. A program of legends,
stories, historical narrative, and ad-
venture. A series about journalists
