ber 7, Joseph Howe, editor of “The
Nova Scotian’’ in 1835; November 14,
Fleurey de Mesplet, founder of “‘The
Montreal Gazette’; November 21,
Col. Garnet Clay of “The Winnipeg
Telegram” in the pioneer days of the
West; November 28, Amor de Cos-
mos, born Smith, founder of ‘The
Victoria Colonist” in 1858.

Wednesdays

Down To Earth. A farm program,
telling about Canada and her people,
as well as forests, soil problems and
such basic industries as fishing.

Midweek Commentary. Social and
political problems of general interest
in Canada discussed by special
speakers.

Fridays

Young Ideas. A series directed to
young people. Canadian boys and
girls come to the microphone to dis-
cuss their interests and schoolwork.
Listeners will also hear about sports,
CLONE ails, music, and Other
topics in which Canadian youth takes
an interest.

Canadian Primer. An ABC of

Canada with information about basic

Kenneth R. Wilson, editorial writer for THE
FINANCIAL POST in Ottawa 1s heard

fortnightly in DOWN TO EARTH as com-

mentator on Canada’s trade in agricultural
produce.

Canadian facts. Maps of Canada may
be obtained by writing to Box 7000,
Montreal, Que. They will help the
listeners to follow the “teacher”.

Saturdays

Weekend Review. A summary of
events of the preceding week in
Canada and Canadian reactions to
international happenings discussed by
guest commentators. November 4,
and 18, Warren Baldwin, Ottawa cor-
respondent to "The Toronto Globe
and Mail”.

Women In The New World. A pro-
gram of general interest, but parti-
cularly concerned with the home and
with women’s activities in the com-
munity, business and industry.

Music

Canadian Concert (Thursdays).
Performances by outstanding Cana-
dian artists.

Folk Songs (Tuesdays). Canadian
ballad singer Alan Mills interprets the
favorite folk songs of North America
after explaining their origin.

Fred Hill Sings (Sundays). Popular
songs presented by Fred Hill, tenor,
accompanied by Jack Bristowe,
pianist.
