Tuesdays
Canadiana. A program of legends,
stories, historical narrative and adven-
ture. December 5, Gerald Anglin of
Toronto tells a story about ‘‘Goose
Bay Airport”; December 12, Under
the title, “Christmas at Tatla Lake”,
Jim Nesbitt of Vancouver gives an
account of the holidays spent by
linemen in the year 1866 while
working on an overland cable from
New York, through Siberia to London,
England; December 19, Meredith
Jones of the French department of the
University of Manitoba tells the
story of Winnipeg’s many races and
varied celebrations in ‘‘Cosmopolitan
Christmas’; December 26, Pierre
Berton talks about "Christmas in the
Yukon”.
Wednesdays
Forest, Field and Farm. A farm
program telling about Canada and her
people, as well as forests, soil problems
and the production and marketing
of food.
Midweek Commentary. Social and
political problems of general interest
in Canada are discussed.
Fridays
Young Ideas. A series directed to
young people in Britain. In these
programs listeners hear about school
activities, sports, current affairs,
music, and whatever else comes within
the range of interest of the young
Canadians who take part in the
broadcasts.
Canadian Primer. An ABC of
Canada with information about basic
Canadian facts. ‘‘Teacher’’ Charles
Wassermann conducts a class of stu-
dents who report from points through-
out the country. Maps are available
for students who write to Box 7,000,
Montreal.
Saturdays
Weekend Review. A summary of
outstanding events of the preceeding
week in Canada and Canadian reac-
tion to international affairs discussed
by Charles Woodsworth, editor of
“The Ottawa Citizen.
Women in the New World. A
program of general interest but partic-
ularly concerned with the home and
with women’s activities in the com-
munity, business and industry. De-
cember 23, Helen Peters of Montreal
talks about ‘Canadian Christmas
Preparations’’.
Music
Canadian Concert. Performances
by outstanding Canadian artists.
Folk Songs. Canadian ballad singer
Alan Mills interprets the favorite
folk songs of North America and
explains their origin.
Fred Hill Sings. Popular songs are
presented by Fred Hill, tenor, accom-
panied by Jack Bristowe, pianist.
