At this writing, all Canada is agog to receive our royal guests. Throughout
their stay here they will be welcomed with the same simple and genuine
hospitality which we pride ourselves on extending to any visitor. The people
of Canada will be united in their honest affection for two human beings and
their deep-seated admiration and respect for traditions of which they are
symbols, and will hope that this unity will appear to the world as a token of
a recognition of deep human feelings and loyalties which is so much needed
in the world today. That the people of Canada with its many racial groups,
its many languages, its many original traditions, will be so united is testimony
to the strong survival of something deeper, more real, and for the world, more
significant than a mere recognition of hard, often materialistic political issues.
It is a deeply human thing.
During the month we of the International Service will be proud to bring
to our listeners many reports of outstanding events in this tour. We hope
you will find them interesting and significant.
