Cities of Canada

The cities of Canada each have distinct characteristics. The older cities
in the Maritime Provinces and in the Provinces of Quebec and Ontario have
retained much of the flavor of their early days while expanding and developing
into modern communities. In the Prairie Provinces and in the Pacific coast
Province of British Columbia, many thriving cities had their beginnings in
this century. In recent years, new cities have been springing up in the northern
areas of Canada; at the same time, the older communities have been spreading
out under the stimulus of an expanding economy and an increasing population.
