Swedish-born women would be given exit visas for
Sweden. He pointed out, however, that the
German authorities could not undertake to arrange
transportation, as all vehicles were required for
the war. The Swedish Red Cross must provide
its own transport, as well as fuel. Herr von
Ribbentrop seemed pleased when I told him that this
could easily be arranged, and that I would
accompany the column. He promised to support me
with Himmler and to assist me in every way.
Then he returned to his favorite subject.
Referring to the latest developments in the
situation, principally the bombing of Dresden and
Nürnberg and the consequences, he asserted that
there was a growing inclination among the Nazis
towards Communism. I then said good-by to
Herr von Ribbentrop and left him.
Himmler kept his word and let me have a
definite decision before I started for home.
Immediately after my visit to Ribbentrop I lunched
with Brigadeführer Schellenberg. He told me that
Himmler had several times talked to him about
my visit, which had pleased him. Schellenberg
was authorized to inform me that Himmler had
