CHAPTER XI.
REVIEW OF IVAR’S FATE.
,
WH#LE we, until now, bave been on a kind of strange footing,
so fo speal#, with our hero, we bave altogether omitted fo call
him by his old naine, Ivar; and bave adhered to his noble name
Borgenstierna only. But as we now represent him in his old
form, and return fo his former adventures, we again lay claire fo
our old familiarity. An extended narration of his adventures,
from the rime he left ]#iaster Brun’s bouse, would be of no great
interest, however, and would also be perfectly superfluous for the
continuance of our story. #Te, therefore, consider it more to
the purpose to conduct our readers fo the cabinet where Ivar
and Wirén ruade their first famfliar interview, and where we
shall receive all necessary explanations.
The room was very elegant. Through the curtained windows
broke a smooth, dira light, which grew lighter by rimes, when a
slight draft of air lifted the curtains, and played with a fresh
breath around the two friends, who were sitting together on the
sofa, looking alternately af little Alfred, #-ho was slumbering in
two arm-chairs placed together, beneath which Diana was lying
comfort#bly.
"I cannot yet recover from my joyful surprise," said
shaking Ivar’s hand heartfly. "If was, indeed, as though I was
dreaming when I met you in the street this morning."
"I felt so, also," replied Borgenstierna, "but it was a happy
dream, which will certainly help in filling up the dreamy solitude
which has been with me almost during my #vhole lire, and which
began so early that it is almost as old as myself."
