BARTHÉLEMY, FRANQOIS, Marquis de.
Fransk diplomat, minister i Stockholm, sedan i London, född 1747, död
1830.
I skrifvelse på franska, dat. Stockholm 21 Febr. 1771 (Linn. Soc., Vol. I:
353—354), ber han att få öfversända ett bref från A. N. Duchesne (se Afd. I:
D. 3, s. 229, not 4) och erbjuder sig att till honom förmedla Linnés svar.
BARTRAM, JOHN.
Egendomsägare i Pennsylvanien, medlem af kväkames samfund,
framstående naturforskare, särskildt botanist, född 1699, död 1777. Han var till
stor hjälp för Pehr Kalm under dennes vistelse i Amerika, hvarom Kalms
resebeskrifning lämnar många vittnesbörd. Om hans lif och brefväxling
hänvisas till’ den af William Darlington utgifna Memorials of John Bartram
and Humphrey Marshall with notices of their botanical contemporaries
(Philad. 1849). Inga bref från Linné till Bartram äro f. n. kända. De
saknades redan, då Darlington utgaf sin bok.

J received thy kind letter by the1 hands of our Gurious Friend Mr
Kalm whome J Lave had the pleasure to converse with, & whome J
value not onely for thy sake but for his own ingenuity.
J have at thy request & his sent thee severall curious seeds which
J hope may meet with thy acceptance.
J have formerly sent thee packets of seeds by the sweedish ministers
of our provence but whether thay came to thy hands J cant be certain
as J never had a line from thee before.
these few lines J commit to the care of our friend hopeing it may
reach thy hands pray when opertunity offers send me a line or two
which will oblige thy friend.
