in 1930: 43, and in 1933: 44. In addition, there were licences granted for special occasions. Consumption of spirituous liquors on licensed premises represents only 2 per cent. of the total consumption. Average yearly exports of Norwegian spirits: In 1890—1899: 53,000 litres a year, in 1900—1909: 73,700 litres, and in 1910 —1916: 67,200 litres. In 1928 exports were 55,024 litres, and fell off year by year to 20,763 litres in 1932. This decline is due to high tariff walls abroad and also to the heavy taxation of spirituous liquors in all countries. In 1933 the cost of beer, wine and spirits to consumers totalled 134.6 mill. Kroner, of which the cost of spirits alone was 54.7 mill. Kroner. Sales of spirits and wine by the Monopoly and the «<Samlag>» institutions totalled in 1933 5.6 mil- lion litres of spirits and 3.7 million litres of wine.
