NORWEGIAN EMPLOYERS’ ASSOCIATION
The Norsk Arbeidsgiverforening (Norwegian
Employers’ Association), a union of employers in
Norway, was formed on November 21, 1900. Its
object is to work for lasting relations between
employers and employed, to avert and settle labour
disputes, and to give its members guidance in
respect of labour conditions and so forth. Some
of the members of the central board of the Asso-
ciation are elected in general meeting and others
by the national federations of the special trades.
As regards the adjustment of relations with the
employed the Association has pursued a definite
policy. It has worked for a regulation of labour
conditions by tariff agreements with the labour
organisations, as far as possible comprising the
whole country and for each individual trade.
These wages agreements have induced more order
and quiet at working places than was formerly
the case. This result is due to the co-operation
which has necessarily had to be effected between
the Association and the national labour federation.
According as the relations between masters and
men have become more legally consolidated, and
