contribution. The beneficiary shall be paid 60
per cent. of the amount deficient in his yearly
income to raise it to the pension basis determined
for each commune — so that 60 per cent. of such
basis rate yields the necessary means of support
in the commune. Old age pensions are payable
from the age of 70. A contribution to funeral
expenses is also paid. This act has not yet taken
effect.
(A number of communes have introduced a
similar measure, but for the present without
state aid.)
(Disablement Insurance has not been introduced
as a separate measure — v. Sickness and Accident
Insurance Acts. Some communes have incorpor-
ated disablement insurance in their Old Age Insur-
ance.)
SPECIAL SOCIAL RELIEF
Child Welfare. Malernity Benefil, The Boarding
Out of Infants: The Child Maintenance Act of
April 10, 1915, with amending acts. It embodies
public aid for mothers and babies, and the control
of children under 14 years of age boarded out
in communes in which the Foster Children Act
has not yet been given effect. Supervision is
exercised by the local health committee.
Foster Children: The Foster Children Act of
April 4, 1905, relates to the supervision of children
under 14 years of age received for reward by
private families or nursing homes. Control is
