The Act of September 24, 1851, comprises cottar labourers enjoying rights to the use of a holding subsidiary to the main estate. The act sets forth rules rela- ting to written agreements, period of tenure, ren- tals, amount of service to be rendered to the landlord, compensation for improvement of land and buildings. Housing Accommodation (Shelter) for Forestry Workers and their Horses. The Act of July 30, 1915, empowers local authorities to draft and issue regulations for the provision and equipment of proper housing accommodation. The Safeguarding of Industrial Workers Act of September 18, 1915, with supplementary acts, lays down provisions for the equipment, healthiness, and safety of working places; working hours, night and Sunday work, the employment of children, young people, and women; for the conduct of workers, length of notice of dismissal, workmen’s contracts, working regulations, factory inspection, and so forth. Working Hours in Bakeries. The Acts of April 24, 1906, and June 4, 1918, fix a working week of 48 hours and prohibit night and Sunday work. The Industrial Home Workers Acis of February 15, 1918, and March 24, 1933, determine the rates of minimum wages, establish industrial home work councils and local wages boards. Working 169
