benefit, and disablement pension if necessary;
2) in case of death: Contribution to funeral expenses
and annuity for dependants.
Accident Insurance for Fishermen. Act of Decem-
ber 10, 1920, and amending acts provide for the
compulsory insurance of fishermen (including
whalers, sealers, Arctic hunters) who make fishing
and hunting a livelihood, and the crews of fishing
vessels not exceeding 50 gross reg. tons, also the
crews of other craft of below 50 and not above
4 gross reg. tons (excepting vessels mainly carry-
ing passengers). The premium is Kr. 10 per annum,
4/19 being contributed by the insured, 4/10 by
the State, and 7/10 by the Fishers’ Fund. Benefits:
1) in case of injury: Free medical treatment, and
a pension in case of disablement; and in the event
of death: Contribution to funeral expenses and
annuity for dependants.
Accident Insurance for Seamen. Act of June 24,
1931, introduced compulsory insurance for the
crews of Norwegian ships in foreign and home
trades, in respect of vessels of a gross burden of
or exceeding 50 reg. tons or of vessels. primarily
employed in passenger services; also for wage
earners and salaried employees engaged for Arctic or
Antarctic hunting (whaling, sealing, etc.) expeditions
or for work at permanent whaling stations outside
Norway. The premiums are paid by the owners.
Benefits in case of accident, climatic disease, scurvy,
