requires in Norway. Should he prefer rural and untrammelled surroundings he will find them in the lovely, long deep valleys of Setesdal, Telemark, Hallingdal, Valdres, Gudbrandsdal, Romsdal, and Qsterdal, where there are good hotels and boarding establishments. If his taste be for mountain ramb- ling and climbing he has the high-mountain hotels, tourist stations, and boarding houses in the wilds of Hardanger, Jotunheimen, Trollheimen, and Dovre, where he will find all the comfort, all. the scenic beauty, and all the variety that a mountain tourist can desire. Access is easy by rail and motor services. There are also facilities for trout-fishing in the swirling mountain rivers and the crystal- clear tarns. For those who wish to be near the sea there are the coastal districts along the fjords in the South, West, and North. In Western Norway we have the Ryfylke Fjords, Hardanger, Sogn, Sunn and Nord Fjords, the Sunnmgr Fjords, Romsdal Fjord and Sunndals Fjord. The fjords penetrate the country between mighty mountains capped with eternal snows, while at their base we find pretty farms and a wealth of fresh vegetation. Those who cannot spare the time to make a stay inland can tour the coast in comfortable Norwegian tourist and mail boats. The wonderful scenery of the fjord and fjeld which they will thus be able to enjoy lies screened from the ocean by an island belt, so that travelling is just as easy and comfortable as on a lake. 177
