The steel foundries supply goods not only for war purposes, such as steel
ingots for guns, projectiles, armour shields, domes and armour-plate, but also for
peaceful employments. Such are those for making ships’ parts, such as
stem-posts, stems and rudders, &c. The Company has received ample recognition for
its propellers, which are made both of ordinary steel and also of oil-hardened nickel-steel. These propellers are characterised by their exact shapes and fine surfaces. Other manufactures for sale are dredger-buckets with facings of special steel, ore mills,
breakers and gear rings, locomotive wheels, locomotive frames, castings for railway carriages, roller-beds or paths and roller saddles for swing bridges, ingot rolls of special steel for rolling-mills and connecting-pinions, taps, necks
