Johan Vilhelm Snellman

(född 1806, rektor, professor, slutligen senator, död 1881) utöfvade i Finland såsom filosof (af hegelska skolan) men än mera såsom publicist ett mycket stort inflytande och blef sin tids mest framstående representant för de nationella finskhetssträfvandena. Snelllnan vistades i Sverige omkring 1840 och deltog då i »Det-går-an»-striden.
