In no. 4418 we read, "This was demonstrated to me very
clearly in a dream in the nights from July 26 to 28, 1746;"
from which it would seem that no. 9 was written about the
beginning of July, 1746 ; which again gives the date . . . . 1745.
10. "This, by the Divine mercy of God-Messiah, it has
been granted to me to learn, now for sixteen months" (Ad
versaria, III, no. 4682, p. 33).
As no. 4785, on p. 43 bears the date of August 3, 1746,
it follows, that no. 4682 , was written about the same time ;
which again fixes the date of Swedenborg’s admission into
the spiritual world as
11. "The conversation [with spirits] has now lasted for
about a year and a half" (Adversaria, III, no. 7572).
Eighteen months from the middle of April fixes the date
of this passage in the middle of October, 1746, and settles
the date of Swedenborg’s admission into the spiritual world as 1745.
Thus far our information is drawn from the Adversaria,
the dates that follow are derived from the " Spiritual Diary."

12. "That spirits are instructed by the Lord by means of
man, and thus receive knowledges, is a thing known to me
by the almost continuous experience of two years and three
quarters." February 18, 1748 (S. D. 821).

Two years and three quarters from February 18, 1748,
lead back to the spring of . •
13. "For nearly three years or thirty-three months I have
been in such a state, that my mind has been removed from
bodily things, and I could be in the society of spiritual and
celestial beings." March 4, 1748 (S. D. 1166).
Thirty-three months from March 4, 1748, carries us back
to the beginning of . .
14. "By the long experience of three years it has been
made known to me that the fantasies and lusts by which evil
spirits excite men, are by various ways changed into good.
May 16, 1748 (S. D. 1974). This passage again yields . 1745.
15. "By the most manifold, daily experience of three years,
it has been made known to me, that men and spirits are com
pelled to think and speak as the Lord either permits or
grants." May 27, 1748 (S. D. 2099) . .
16. "For three years I have sensibly perceived that I am
kept in the sphere of faith." August 5, 1748 (S. D. 2739).
17. "For three years and a half . I have been speak
ing with spirits. " September 5, 1748 (S. D. 3058) .
