No specimens of Lnfoéa grandis, Hincks (L. fruticosa,
G. 0. Sars, and S. F. Clarke) or L. capillaris, G. 0. Sars,
occur in the Vega colleetion. They are probably exclusively
deeper water forms.
Lafoea sibirica, n. sp.
Pl. 14, fig. 2.
Stem creeping, very delicate; hydrothecce minute, with tlie sides
straight or very slightly curved imvards in the middle; aperture entire:
hydrothecce about 0,u mm. in lengtli borne on stoutish ringed peclicels
with about 6 to 8 rings.
This little species is very like our British L. pocillum, but
differs from it in the larger size of the hydrothecse, and
per-haps to a slight extent in their straighter sides. S. F. Clarke
describes an Alaskan form as L. pocillum, which is very likely
the same as this.
Loccdity: Lat. 67° 7’ N., Long. 173° 24’ W. 12—15 fathoms.
Salacia abietina (Sars), Hincks.
Campanularia abietina, Sars (Reise i Lofoten, 1850).
Grammaria abietina, Sars (Bemserkn. over fire Norske Hydr.,
1862).
Good and typical specimens occur from the station in
Long. 113° 30’ E., at a depth of 15 fathoms. The species does
occur in Clarke’s Alaskan list, and this therefore is its most
easterly record; but it occurs on bot-h sides of the N. Atlantic
region (Stimpson, Grand Manan).
Sertularella gigantea, Mereschkowsky.
This species does not occur in the collection from farther
East than 113° 30’ E. long. The specimens from that locality
are identical with those I have before exarnined in the Willem
Barents collection from Barents Sea: and are probably identical
also with the large variety of S. poly sonias figured by Clarke
from Alaska, although the Vega brings no specimens from
intermediate stations. Kirchenpaur mentions specimens from
Kamtschatka in the Leipzig collection. Hincks’ Greenland
specimens are no doubt also identical \ and the form is no
