First pair of antennae ovate, longer than head; eyes
tolerably large, bean-shaped. Tibi* of third and fourth pairs of
pereiopoda not enlarged, shorter than earpi. Dactyli of fifth
and sixth pairs shorter than a third of metacarpi. Telson large,
longer than half the peduncle of last pair of uropoda.

Lengtli 12 mm.

The fourth family CyllopodidflB, C. Bovallius, 1887.

Head globular; eyes large, occupying almost the whole
sides of the head. First pair of antennee fixed at the anterior
side of the head, with the first joint of flagellum tumid, conical;
second pair fixed at the inferior side of the heacl, angulated.
Mandibles with palp. Dactyli of seventh pair of pereiopoda
transformed.

Genus Cyllopus, Dana, 1852.

Syn. 1852. Cyllopus. Dana. United States Exploring Expedition. Crusta-

cea. Voi. 2, p. 989. 4:to.

Head globular, a little tumid. Eyes large, filling almost
the whole sides of the head. First pair of pereiopoda simple
or subchelate. Second pair with a more or less produced
carpal process. Femur of seventh pair much longer than the
following joints together. Telson small. rounded.

It is to be distinguished from the other species of the
genus by the carpus of second pair of pereiopoda being much
