Head very large, bordered with a serrated crest around the
middle. First two pairs of pereiopoda cheliform. Second pair of
uropoda are totally wanting. The interior rami are coalesced
in both existing pairs of uropoda.

It is easily recognised by the enormous length of the fifth
pair of pereiopoda and the strongly serrated metacarpus of the
seventh pair.
Lengtli 50—60 mm.
Hab. One specimen taken just at the Southern limit of the
arctic region, at Lat. 59° 38’ N.; Long. 5° 24’ W. The other
known specimen is taken off the western shore of the Australian
mainland. Indeed a wide distribution for the species. (D. M.)

Head and a part or the whole of pereion developed into a
balloon-shaped globe. Ocelli dispersed on the sides of the head.
First pair of antennse straight; second pair small, four-jointed,
fixed at the inferior side of the head. Mandibles without palp.
Seventh pair of pereiopoda not transformed. Uropoda normal.

pro-duced. Pleon compressed, not infiated. Interior rami of
