for the present; that the library committee proceed
with the work of raising funds for the library.

The council submitted its annual report,
containing, besides the lists of officers and committees, as
given elsewhere in the yearbook, a synopsis of the
transactions at the two council meetings held during
the year.

The secretary, Mr. Schon, presented his annual
report, outlining the future work of the society. The
report is given in full elsewhere.

The committee on membership reported that
circulars inviting to membership in the society had
been sent out, resulting in the addition of sixty new
members, making a total of 118.

The council organized and elected committees, as
shown in the published lists, adjourning without
transacting any further business.

The council met in the rooms of the John Crerar
Library, and Mr. John R. Lindgren was elected to
preside. A vote of thanks was passed, to be tendered
by letter to the following publishers, who had offered
to donate copies of all their publications, viz., the
Augustana Book Concern, Rock Island, 111.; the
Eng-berg-IIolmberg Publishing Company, Chicago; the
Swedish 31. E. Book Concern, Chicago, and the
publisher of Svenska Tribunen, Chicago. Mr. Wallenius,
about to visit Minneapolis, offered his services in the
effort to acquire the 0. X. Nelson collection of
Swed-ish-American historical literature in that city.
