Preface to the Electronic Edition
August Palm
(1849-1922) was a Swedish tailor and socialist agitator, paving the
way for the Swedish social democratic party. This book displays some
"snapshots from a trip to America", and was published in 1901. Palm
was invited to visit America by the Scandinavian club of the Socialist
Labour Party (S. L. P.) in Providence, Rhode Island, in cooperation
with similar clubs in New York and Brooklyn, as a means to attract
more members to these clubs. The trip started on Sept 1st 1900 and
the foreword to this book is signed in March 1901.
