Bulwer-Lytton, Edward (1803–1873), writer, playwright, Great Britain.

Edward George Earle Bulwer-Lytton, 1st Baron, Brittish writer, born May 25, 1803, died January 18, 1873.

Wrote the novel The last days of Pompeii (1834), which has been translated to Swedish as Pompeii' sista dagar (1835, new editions 1874, 1909) by J. Berg and Anders Fredrik Dalin and as Pompejis sista dagar (1912, new edition 1917) by Victor Pfeiff, (1954) by Ernst C:son Bredberg, (1970, also 1983) by Erik Lindström. This novel inspired Viktor Rydberg to write Den siste atenaren.
