Women in the New World (Satur-
days), includes stories of Canadian
women, their careers, hobbies, prob-
lems and interests. Each week two or
more speakers are heard. The program
of December 17th will describe Christ-
mas preparations and the theme of the
December 24th show will be Christ-
mas through the eyes of Canadian
women of varying cultural back-
grounds.

Graham Allen, regular contributor to‘ Canadian
Chronicle” speaks from Halifax during the
special Christmas edition.

Canadian Primer (Sundays), or the
A B C of Canada. A kindergarten
course in fundamental facts about
Canada. From December 4th to De-
cember 25th, the course will run from
E to H for “Home” a fitting Christ-
mas subject.

History and Current Affairs

The Canadian Story (Mondays).
Tales of the St. Lawrence” continues
with Frank Edwards recounting some

of the legends known to inhabitants
of the towns and cities along the banks
of the St. Lawrence. December 5th,
“The Adventurous Captain” —the
tale of Captain Robert Stobo whose
Imprisonment in Quebee may have
lead to the Citadel’s ultimate fall.
December 12th, ‘The Battle of Quebec”
—the story behind the taking of
Quebec by General Wolfe; December
19th, “The Amenities of War”— an
account of an incident at Pointe-aux-
Trembles in July, 1759. December 26th,
“The First Canadian Christmas’’— an
early Christmas and New Year’s
season spent by Canadian mission-
aries, loyalists, and European settlers.

This Week (Tuesdays). A discussion
of current affairs by Canadians, guest
speakers and well informed visitors to
Canada.

Musical Programs

Evening Recital (Thursdays). A
series of performances by outstanding
Canadian artists. December 6th, Zara
Nelsova, cellist. December 13th, Over-
ture on Hebrew Themes for clarinet
and strings by Prokofieff, with Masel-
la and the McGill String Quartet, and
the first radio performance of the
Andrew Twa Quartet, winning work
of the McGill Chambermusic Society
competition. December 20th, a special
show for Christmas and December 27th,
a feature program for the New Year.

Folk Songs (Tuesdays). Canadian
ballad singer Alan Mills interprets
North American folk songs.

Prairie Schooner (Sundays). Jimmy
Gowler and his orchestra in Winnipeg
present songs and dances from the
Pioneer West.

Drama

Three of a King (Mondays). A series
of fifteen-minute dramatic programs.
Each episode concerns the life of Mr.
and Mrs. Kind and their son Nicholas
who represent an average Canadian
family.
