Wednesdays

Down To Earth. A farm program,
although not for farmers only, this
series tells about Canada and its
people, as well as forests, soil pro-
blems, and fisheries. A magazine of
items from across the country.

Midweek Commentary. Social and
political problems of general interest
in Canada as they arise from week
to week are discussed by specialists.

Robert McKeown, Ottawa correspondent for
“The Montreal Standard”, is often heard in
capital reports and in political commentaries.

Fridays

Young Ideas. This new series has
been planned as a direct response to
suggestions received from young over-
seas listeners who want to know
about the life, interests, and work of
their Canadian contemporaries. Dur-
ing the 15-minute program Canadian
teen-agers in various places in Canada
discuss their interests at school, in
Sports, current affairs, music, and
whatever else comes within the range
of inquiring teen-age minds. The
first program in the series is heard on
October 6th, when a group of boys
and girls from Montreal come to the
microphone.

Max Chamitov, noted Canadian pianist, who 1s
often heard on International Service programs.

Doctor And Patient. A series of
comprehensive surveys of health in
Canada. Charles Woodsworth, Editor
of “The Ottawa Citizen”, who has
spent much time in research on this
subject, tells about his findings.

Saturdays

Weekend Review. A summary of
events of the preceeding week pre-
sented by guest commentators.

Women In The New World. A
program of general interest, though
chiefly stressing possibilities for jobs
and careers for women in Canada,
as well as the Canadian home.

Music

Canadian Concert (Thursdays).
Performances by outstanding Cana-
dian artists.

Folk Songs (Tuesdays). The favor-
ite folk songs of North America are
interpreted by Canadian ballad singer,
Alan Mills, who also explains the
origin of the songs selected.

Fred Hill Sings (Sundays). Broad-
cast at the time previously occupied
by “Prairie Schooner”, this program
presents Fred Hill, tenor, singing
popular songs accompanied by Jack
Bristowe, pianist.
