Pontoppidan, Henrik (1857-1943),
writer, Denmark.
In 1917, Henrik Pontoppidan received the Nobel Prize for
literature, "for his authentic descriptions of present-day life in
Denmark". The prize was divided equally between Pontoppidan and Karl Adolph Gjellerup. See also The Nobel Foundation and their
