Preface to the electronic edition
Rabindranath Tagore was
awarded the Nobel Prize for literature in 1913. The Swedish original
to this book is titled Under Indiens himmel : en resa i Tagores
land (1916). This French translation has no year printed. The
Libris catalog claims that there is one edition from 1925 (270 pages)
and one from 1927 (265 pages). (The Internet Archive claims the
digitized copy is from 1900, which seems less likely.) A footnote
on page 80 references a 1926 publication, so
we assume this is the 1927 edition. The book was digitized in June
2009 by the Internet Archive, from where the scanned images and OCR
text in January 2025 were copied to Project Runeberg. Page images have
been white-balanced (made brighter) by us.
This volume was scanned elsewhere and made available by the Internet Archive,
from where the scanned images were copied to Project Runeberg.
We very much appreciate that they have made this possible
and want to encourage other digital library projects to
follow their example. Read more about Project Runeberg's
image sources.
