Preface to the electronic edition
This Icelandic book from 1901 is presented as a translation of Bram
Stoker's Dracula, but appears to be more of a rewrite than a
translation, so much that it has been translated (back) into English
and published as Powers of Darkness (2017). The book from 1901
was digitized in 2017 by Denmark's Royal Library, from where the
scanned images in April 2020 were copied to Project Runeberg. Page
numbers 161-166 appear twice. The scanning resolution is remarkably
low (pages only 860 pixels wide) and pages 46-47 are missing. The
original OCR was useless, apparently not made with settings for
Icelandic text. We have generated our own OCR text using Finereader
Professional version 10.
This volume was scanned by Det Kongelige Bibliotek, Denmark's national library,
from where the scanned images were copied to Project Runeberg.
